Femke de Boer obtained her Bachelor’s degree (Health and Life Sciences) at the VU University in Amsterdam. After this, she continued with the Master’s programme Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Amsterdam, during which she did two research internships. The first focused on functional connectivity during response inhibition in Parkinson’s disease; the second one she did in Finland investigating the effects of palatable food consumption on the opioid system. She wrote her literature thesis about the prediction of food choice, intake and weight gain based on neural activation. Currently, she is studying the neural mechanisms of pathological gambling as a research assistant.
